For reference I am 21 yrs old 6 ft tall and weight 160 pounds, do not have any noticeable fat, mostly muscle and mostly toned. I'm looking to put on more muscle for other sports, and to hopefully prevent future injuries with this additional muscle. I know this probably won't help my climbing all that much, but will it hurt it? I rarely see super buff climbers, because they weight more and would need to have such a strong grip to hold their own weight. How will adding more muscle - effect my climbing? I'm on the border of 5.10's and 5.11's and would like to also get better at climbing, however it isn't my main priority at this point in my life

If I was looking to gain muscle w8 I would make sure I 8 lots of protein and lifted lots of w8s. And don't forget to shock them bi's.

If you lift weights, you'll get bigger. If you run and skateboard, you'll stay lean. Your "belief" that more muscle will help you avoid injury is another issue entirely, and it has nothing to do with how much muscle mass you have. It has to do with how you use that muscle mass....and no, I refuse to answer the obvious and inevitable question that is about to follow. Look up, and right. There is a search bar. Whether or not more muscle will affect your climbing depends. More important than muscle in climbing is how you use it. Your technique is what will get you up hard climbs, not your strength. There are climbers who are buff - I've known championship winning body builders who climb - and climb well. There are lean climbers who climb fantastically hard. Will added mass hurt? Maybe, maybe not.

why don't you just climb more, instead of just sitting around your house all day getting right hand strong... just stop being a dumb-ass and do the work that easy. lift and eat if you want to get bigger. it will do it will do shit for helping you not to get hurt. If any thing you'll have just more weight and more uncontrolled strength.
