Chang Mai means "elephant, no?" ChIang Mai means "new city." Don't confuse. Anyways, Crazy Horse is good, less crowded, and less polished. Also, overall the hardware is in better shape. The climbing in the south is not in Krabi Town, but in a few different areas in Krabi Province. I'm not sure what you mean by "saving your strength" but if you don't climb at least 5.11 then you are going to have a hard time in Railey. Most of the easy routes are horribly polished. The climbing at crazy horse and on Koh Phi Phi in the south are much better suited to someone who is climbing under 5.11. These areas also have hard climbs... I'm not sure about Crazy Horse but on Phi Phi we have quality climbs up to 5.13.

Thanks, I will be staying in Ao Nang the last week of January and plan on getting a guide to help me find areas suited for me..I just started lead climbing.. I do a lot of bouldering and top rope.. All indoor. I have no idea what my level is except Ive climbed routes labled 5.11 and V1. Im looking for fun but Im also looking to be challenged. I have been preparing for the deep water soloing as well as I can... The Phi Phi Islands has good routes?? How far on a long tail boat is that from Ao Nang.. Im hoping my Rosetta stone Thai will help me and not hinder me.. Thanks for your help

I believe that we are taking a day trip to Phi Phi,,not sure which island but pretty sure the "touristy" one. If i want climb are there some good bolted routes and also places to deep water solo?? Not finding too much info except maybe some "old bolt" issues....any suggestions J

If you're trying to climb out of Ao Nang, just get a longtail boat to tonsai, and start asking around. I'll be there for a while longer. Stop by pyramid bar in the mornings, my climbing parters and occasionally myself In reply to: are usually having breakfast/coffee there. I had grand plans to go to Chang Mai, (and india, too) but the longer I'm here in Ton Sai, the less reasons I can think of to leave for elsewhere (I hear it happens a lot.) I've heard a lot of good things about Josh in Chang Mai also. Just be careful out there. There was an accident this morning, failure of either a belay device or of a belayer. The climber is doing ok when he was rushed out by boat this morning, but it obviously really shook up everyone around.

Thanks for info. That's exactly what we did I love Tonsai. Your right there is not to many reasons to leave here once u get here . We bouldered on some random island and absolutely exhausted me. We also dws'd. I learned this,,,,,Dws and boulder in the tail end cause it can ruin your sport climbing for a few days. Today is rest day. Cheers
