Where are you? I can give you quite a lot of beta on bouldering and trad routes up north in HP (between Manali and Leh), and a bit around Delhi.

If you're more towards the south there is of course Hampi and Badami, which I haven't visited, but both are well developed and you shouldn't have trouble finding partners and/or topos for either.

What kind of climbing is there up by Dharmsala? Trad/Sport/Bouldering? Are there any bouldering pads available up there for rent/purchase? Heading over there for an extended stay next year.....

Lots of bouldering in Hampi, Badami and around Bangalore. These place have a number of local climbers and some foreigners.
Hyderabad has a large number of bouldering locations and most of them are in the city( actually) or a short drive away. Most visitors who want to boulder get in touch with Tony, a Japanese climber who has developed nearly all the routes here. Here is a link to some Hyderabad bouldering- http://outdoor.geocities.jp/hydclimbers/
Happy climbing!

I doubt you will find any place to rent a pad in Dharamsala, and I'm not sure what sort of bouldering there is in that immediate area.

You should be able to rent a pad in Manali (in Vashisht, I forget the name but its the big red shop on the left coming up the hill). My friend sold his pad to them when we were there this summer, and they acted like they intended to rent it out.

Near Manali there is some bouldering in Solang, and I think some in the immediate area of the town if you look hard enough, though much of it will not be clean.

The BEST bouldering in HP is in Chatru and Chota Dhara, which is maybe 6 hours north of Manali. You can get up there pretty easily (though not comfortably) by hitching. In Chatru, the last dhaba on the right after you've crossed the river is run by a climber-friendly guy, and he has a set of topos for both Chatru and Chota Dhara. The bouldering here is mainly in the higher grades, and is of really good quality, though fairly spread out. The guys at the shop in Manali told us Sharma had headed up that way a couple months before our visit, though I don't know if he was just bullshitting us. I can say though that it's great climbing and you can easily spend a month here.

There is also trad to be had around Chatru and Chota Dhara, though it is adventurous. If thats of any interest PM me and I can rustle up a topo for some of the routes we put up over the summer.
