Ebay instead of Classifieds?

I have been a gear whore for along time, I've been lurking around RC.com for awhile now. I always am looking for gear or wanting to sell gear, I use eBay a lot for hardware never soft goods. However it seems that when ever someone posts up an eBay link here they get yelled out for being uncool. I think we should have a thread for posting stuff on eBay that RCers are selling. I don't like the classifieds cause there is no buyer or seller protections, but if you list them both places by the time its noticed here the eBay listing is done. I'm not wanting this as a lets post everything thing on eBay, eBay made a search button for that. Just lets make a thread that helps RCs selling stuff out. We could also use this to warn people about suspect listings. I would be a lot happier know I was buying gear from some one that using RC.com. So any one got anything there are selling on eBay?

You're scared to use the classifieds on this site becsuse there isn't any protection for you from dishonest users, however you'd feel much better if you knew that the shit you were buying on eBay was from an RC.com user? Yeah, makes sense to me Crazy.

Ok guess I need to clarify. I don't feel comfortable sending a check in the mail to some one ect. With eBay I feel that the money end of things is safer. However there is a lot of people selling gear on eBay that got it at a pawn shop, stole it, got it from a friend and have no idea what it is. The gearheads at RC.com at least know what their gear is. I was just thinking it would be nice to combine the two, The easy of money transfer with eBay and the Gear knowledge of RC.com if its a dumb idea hey don't use it, just thought it would be nice.

I've got some cams up, I just don't trad climb as much as I would like to now that I live in Nebraska. Not sure if a lot of people here would use these. Most people around here are not the biggest fan of ebay for climbing gear.

not to totally rip on you, but you obviously havn't been "lurking" here too long...
I'm not sure you could count the number of "how do I know when to retire my rope" or "what piece of gear is this" or the ever famous "I have $x, what new gear should I buy, and i wont tell you what i already have and what i usually climb"

I see you are using the classic Ebay tactic of inserting every possible brand name into the auction title. Solid work.

I sell excess gear from time to time. I put it up here first, then after some time if it doesn't sell I'll take it off this site, then post it on Ebay. I also buy gear from this site if I see a quality product at a decent price. That said, I've never had any problems with the money end of the deal from any transaction here. Most of the deals are made with Paypal anyway and if it's cash, no one has ever complained about waiting for me to receive the money before I ship, or vice versa.

If your worried about doing transactions here, don't do it here.
Using this site to crosspost to Ebay is in bad taste, as you've found out, so don't.
And yes, I'm selling something right here now, look in the classified's.

How did I lye about the description, there are key words in the title so more people will see it when searching. But never do I make any claims that the cams are BDs, just trying to use common search words. Or is there something I'm missing that I should change?

Why was this moved? This is very similar to the "hottest deals" thread. I guess this was a mods way of telling me to get lost they don't like my idea. In gear heads this would be seen, in suggestions a place to die. I don't agree with the move but I guess the RC gods have spoken.

Here's what ebay says:

Search manipulation (using unrelated brands in a listing title in order to attract people searching for those items) is another misuse of brands that you should avoid.

moronic moderation that can't tell the difference between a discussion of the merits of selling on this site vs ebay, and feedback on the merits of selling through this site.

I have never used brands like that in a title before, normally extra words. It makes sense though some one might not understand what you were really selling. I changed it I really would feel bad if some one bought them looking for BDs
