LS, good for you. Or your friend, whichever, it doesn't matter. If the innuendo was accidental or your sense of humor, consider this. I climb with people that climb well, and has nothing to do with friendship. That comes later, if everyone is quality that is. It doesn't matter what sex, or even age, but more on ability, commitment, and of course a compatible schedule helps. In the half a century on this orb, I have come to know that life is too short for negative help. Fun is fun, and climbing is so much more, that a downer just can't come along on the next outing. Again, good for you. If in my neck of the woods, well you know. I am happily married to a nonclimber type, so no pressure here, unless it is to send. Bob

ladyscarlett wrote: I went to Joshua Tree this past week, and I found this climbing chick who I haven't seen in a bit. It had been a while since she had been out there, and although the trip had it's own challenges, mentally and physically, she was avidly remembering how much she loved climbing big hard things, and being on top, even when it's a sweaty struggle to get there! And every time she would entertain fantasies that maybe, just maybe she actually could climb, her partner would say juuuuuust the right thing to make her feel stupid, awkward, clumsy, inadequate, weak, cowardly, and an all around general failure. And when she told her partner as much, it still didn't stop. Brought to a new level of frustration, she was tempted to cut the trip days short and just head home. Then she stopped to think, if her climbing partner makes her want to STOP climbing, maybe it was time to give each other a little space. He's a good guy, and they had many good times in the past, but as with so many things, it's all about the good fit! So.... Auditions for the Climbing Harem are officially open. cheers LS Well, sounds like you are getting plenty of support here. If your partner can't handle you, just leave him hanging. In all seriousness, what is up with some people, cutting others down with disparaging remarks? LS, Climb On! Don

Just kidding! I once had a similar partner, but the negativity wasn't directed toward me. He complained constantly, however, and when we had any interaction with other climbers, once they were gone, he would wonder aloud what they meant by this comment or that. Constant whining and bitching when he was on the sharp end. Constant whining and bitching around the campfire. I don't mind being a sounding board when a friend is frustrated, but if that's all I ever hear, you're time with me is limited. I applaud your decision to seek companionship elsewhere. I did, and haven't regretted it at all. And since this is community... make you sure you dick stab him in the fart box, first.

Ladyscarlett, to add to my already monstrous rack, I have recently purchased a very large battery operated unit. It has hammer mode, vibration control for those long days, and a quick recharge. Of course I prefer to go more natural most of the time but I am a very adaptable climber. Did I mention that I live on a subtropical island? My pants get wet just thinking about me.

A good thread needs to develop an emotional bond with the participants before it gets to the really good stuff. You can't be jumping in and out of threads and hope to get fulfillment. By jumping into and out of so many threads, you don't develop the togetherness that is needed when a thread starts to slow down. Besides, now that it is in the campground, the fun can really begin.

Wow, I go off to live in the non interwebz world and come back with my thread moved, and left to wither... Too bad I'm back! I have no problem being relocated to Campground, I've seen the fun to be had! In regards to any sexual innuendo, well...um...I have no idea what you are talking about! I'm innocent, truly! Regarding handfuls, I was talking jugs - two DOES feel better than one jug...I mean, knobs. Wait, Nuts? A set of nuts is definitely two handfuls for my little hands. Man, I give up! Climbing just makes it so fun. I'll just put down the words, and you can all let your dirtee minds just imagine what I could possibly be talking about. Just remember, not my words, your brains...brains can be so fun! Thanks for the support. I suppose I've become frustrated as he's been a great partner in the past. I believe he's feeling frustrated that I'm not the same climber as he was when he was at my level, mentally and physcially, and is choosing to express his frustration by constantly highlighting that I'm just never going to be a good climber. Not sure how this works. When I first got this vibe, I suggested him that it was time for him to find another partner, more to his speed, but apparently he's quite happy with the situation. But I'm not! Soooo, thank you for your interest. And I will be sure to keep note of local and non local applicants. Afterall, I see nothing wrong with having a geographically diverse Harem. Actually that kind of sounds ideal! Should have thought of it in the first place. Who knew that climbing partnerships can be as fraught with drama as any sexual/romantic/etc relationship?! Guess I'm still learning...oh YEAH! Still up for showing this n00b how to feel up a good crack in JUST the right way? cheers ls

Subtropical island eh? I already have the perfect climbing clothes for that weather...AND open to both a natural and "augmented" approach. Nice!! You ok with someone else handling your 'monstrous' rack? Fair warning, I'm still getting used to the big pieces. I've discovered that even a mere #4 is two very full hands for me, so as long as you don't mind... hee hee ls

I'm learning to use my mouth too...It's a delicate combo of hand, mouth, tongue, lipis, and on some rare occasions - teeth. It's switching between them all that is testing my dexterity skills. Good thing I'm not toooo limited on which hand needs to be used. I'm pretty good with both! slurp! ls
