Hello Everyone, I will be in US in end of May for a 2 weeks round trip that will take me from LA along the coast to San Francisco, then Yosemite, Death Valley, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree and back to LA. I will be travelling with my girlfriend and would love to try some good sport climbs that I could find along the route. I have seen that the BIG areas like Yosemite and Joshua Tree are mostly trad so unfortunately I will have to pass on that for this trip. What I am looking for are crags with well bolted 5.7 to 5.11 single pitch sport routes. Any suggestion on where I should stop? Thank you all in advance!

I don't know a lot of areas along your intended route, but here are a couple: LA - New Jack City Las Vegas - Obviously Red Rocks -St. George, UT isn't too far As far as the rest of your trip, I know I am missing a million crags along the way, but I don't know of anything big or well known. Good luck and have fun.

check out the book "sport climbing in the santa monicas" as a good source near the LA area... malibu creek, echo cliffs, are a few good stops... the book covers several others..

Echo Cliffs is pretty cool, its better then Malibu Creak for sport IMO. Red Rocks is by far the best destination in your ring. Check out the route Unimpeachable Groping in Red Rocks. Is a six (or seven, forgot) pitch 5.10b sport line. The hike up to it is long but it’s a fun route.
