Since you are a beginner and a student, start with cheap and comfortable,ie. not too tight. By the time they wear out you should have a better idea of what you need.

I don't know if this will be enough information for you, but a great place to start might be the THOUSANDS of answers to this very question here: http://www.rockclimbing.com/forums/search.php?term=shoes&forum=all&author=&sortby=&what=s&submit=Search

Click on the Articles nav button. Look for the Shoe Thread Index, many user posts about shoes have been compiled there. Also, there are several articles about climbing shoes, like http://www.rockclimbing.com/articles/view.php?ID=12 Good luck

I just tried the anasazi velcros last night (my 5.10 diamonds need to be resoled and leaves me with a good excuse to buy a new pair to wear while I wait for their return). But my point is even though they killed my feet, I could get into the tiniest cracks. It was amazing! What other shoes would you all recommend?
