The most hardcore band of all time where THE BEEGEES. They let people kick them repeatedly in the nuts before every song. How fucking harcore is that!

Hmm... I will see that and have to raise you Throwdown, Anal Cunt, The Locust, or to keep things poppy for you Dillinger Escape Plan. "Best" is a title worth defending.

How about some Arsis? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4N8yUotOOw I think that Burzum wins the most hardcore award. On top of Varg Vikernes being convicted for burning down churches and murder he smiled at his conviction. Norwegian black metal bands make American metal bands look like a bunch of posers. Check out the black metal wiki.

You don't need lyrics for great music. I wouldn't consider At the Drive-In to be hardcore though.

The mathematical sounding drums and guitar went to the Mars Volta.

After the initial gimmickry of their tight time signature changes, they just sound like an annoying wannabe coffeeshop intellectual who found a thesaurus and is in freshman Spanish class. Sparta is sticking a lot more effectively. Another great hardcore band which (pretentious hipster alert) I saw way back in 1998, and which is so obscure that it isn't even on youtube is Sparkmarker. Good stuff.

Good stuff. After Amputechture everything just went downhill And I swear to god their Bedlam In Goliath cd is cursed, everytime my friend played the cd in his car something bad happened. Example: Hit an Ice patch in the road and slid into a mailbox, got a terrible phone call, the list goes on

After waiting in line for 2 hrs., we found it was canceled after the band got in a wreck on an icy road. Then, on the way home, we got in a wreck on an icy road. Damn you At the Spartan Volta!
