Anyone know if there is any climbing in curacao? I may be headed there this summer and might need to bring the shoes and chalkbag.

reply to myself/ bumptastic

I see a few beaches with what looks to be weathered/ salted limestone. I'm bringing the shoes, chalkbag and a drybag for some DWS. Is lugging a rope and some draws along not a good idea? I can sacrifice clothing room if necessary.

Hey dr_feelgood,
I was hoping you could share some beta with me on how climbing is out there. I was thinking of vacationing there soon, and although I never leave home without my shoes, was curious about rope of maybe a dry bag for some DWS? Any beta you have on climbing out there or guild books or anything would be great.

Thanks

CSM

Hi, I am planning to be in Coracao on vacation from July 9 to 23. If your dates coincide, we should rope-up for some climbing.

I'm always up for some climbing. I'll be there the 7th thru the 11th, so let's try to make it happen! I don't know if I'll be bringing my rope/harness, but I'll def be bringing my shoes for a little bouldering.

Email me at dave.jaeger@gmail.com and we'll set something up

Hey guys, what's the word? How was it? I've got family on Curacao and always looked at the clifs at Terra Cora, but never seen any bolts. I know some Dutch guys run a climbing guide company there (but mostly toprope and trad). Seen any lead climbs?

Any one ever make it out there?

Have any Beta?

I'll be here pretty much all of April 2011 if anyone wants to get out on a weekend.

So for future reference, I have gone climbing there this summer while visiting my family. I have directions, gps coordinates and pics for anyone interested. Just send me a message.

Basically there is at least on crag that is equipped with some webbing that you can lead on (5.7-5.8). There's some opportunity to use your own pro. There's definitely lots of potential for setting your own topropes. I have scouted at least one faceclimb that's probably a 5.10+/5.11 but needs cleaning.

I also found some great bouldering opportunities.

Keep in mind, all rock is pretty much limestone, often very sharp (but not always). There's some great stalactite formations to climb (but respect the bat roosting places). And lastly, DO NOT go climbing mid day (11AM-3PM), it's dangerously hot.

Hi there,

I'm also looking for any information about climbing and bouldering on Curacao; AND I'm looking to get in touch with climbers/boulderers who live there... as I might move there next year!

I have seen some nice pictures and some Youtube movies as well. I may attempt to develop some areas while there if I can find somethibg nice that doesn't have (too much) red tape...

Thanks in advance!

Cheers Stefan
