Ok, since tech is ever evolving I thought I would start a thread to see if anyone can give me some input. Looking for a GPS that can give traffic and trail directions. Also looking for one that I can store routes in. Are there any route catalogs that are transferable to a GPS unit, I've heard of an iphone app. Or would I have to manually log climbs as if they were geocaches. Any suggestions on the cheapest model that will accomplish all of these goals?

Not sure about a unit to do what you want, but try a website called Mega GPS. I think you can find one there and get a good price as well.
