--A very sad status update this morning: the untimely death of 23-year-old Belgian climber Chloé Graftiaux, winner of this year's World Cup at the Teva Mountain Games. Thoughts & prayers to her family and friends.--

don't know all the details yet but i'm sure more will come.

What a year, we have lost so many of our brethren.

I had not heard of Chloe until this thread but it sounds like she was one hell of a young talent. Very sad indeed.

It's unclear from the planetmountain.com and Wiki articles whether the rockfall was caused by Chloe as she downclimbed or if she was just in it's path.

Either way, add this accident to these two

and it seems like there have been a lot of ropeless falls from "easy" cliff top terrain this season.

Kind of spooky.

Yes, very sad indeed. Being a Belgian I remember Chloe as a real talent when she was participating championships.
