Hi
I'm a danish climbing, and I'm planing to climb at T-wall in november-december.
My question is:
Is there a cheap campsite neerby?
Which guidebook is the best one to get?

Kind regards
Lasse

Guidebook: The Dixie Cragger's Atlas

Camping: Described in book. It is free camping (no electricity, no outhouses) near the base of the climbing. It's about a fifteen minute hike from the base of the hike to the the top (about a one a minute walk to the base of the trail from the campsites).

I went in March. Out of six days, we had one day that got snowed out. The day after it had all melted, and the place was great.

Do not leave valuables in plain site in your car.

There is a free campsite across the road from the approach trail. there is no water there, and just a hole to shit in. I dont know about any other campsites in the area, but i'm sure they exist.

You want the dixie craggers atlas for a guidebook.

Yes, there is camping nearby. You can camp directly across the street for free, though you need to be careful with valuable items. People occasionally break in to cars parked there.

For a guide book, I would get the "Dixie Cragger's Atlas" by Chris Watford. You can get the "Tennessee Wall" pocket edition or the full edition for the entire state of Tennessee. I would get the full edition if you are planning on staying for a couple months. There are other great places to climb near Chattanooga besides T-Wall including Sunset, Foster Falls, and Little Rock City, just to name a few.

Good point about the water, I forgot about that.

To OP: Are you bringing a partner? It's not the best place for finding a partner. You might get lucky, or you might not.

Rob Robinson's newer guidebook is much better than the Dixie Craggers for T-Wall. Much more up to date and easier to read descriptions and photo topos.

No water? There used to be a river 200 yards from the campsite.

Tennessee Wall is occasionally closed for hunting in the spring and autumn months. For November - December 2010, T-Wall will be closed on the following dates:

Nov. 5-7
Nov. 27-Dec. 2

On those dates, climbing and camping are NOT permitted at Tennessee Wall.

So will there be any other closures during December? And what about the Obed and other near by climbing areas? Will they be closed as well?

Dec. 2 is the last closure for 2010. T-Wall closures for the spring and the fall are posted here throughout the year:

http://www.state.tn.us/...y/stateforest07.html

I'm not aware of any other closures in the Chattanooga area this fall. If you're counting the Obed as "nearby", then I'm not sure I can speak to that wide of an area. But as far as Obed itself is concerned, I'm not aware of any closures.
