There are gun fights in the Laredo area quite regularly actually. My mother-in-law lives in Brownsville and they hear about it all the time on the local news and through friends. The best way would be to fly straight into Monterrey, if you can.

That's what I did last winter...
Personally I'd rather have 3-5 trips to other places for the equivalent cost of flying down there.

Direct finish? We did the 5.8 variation or some such thing... It was two years ago, I'm trying to remember the route options. The picture is of the fairy tale traverse, which is pretty rad.

I would probably fly in next time I go as well. Largely, it is much more convenient and once in Hidalgo, I'd just stay there at this point. Laredo is a slimy shit hole, I believe anything could happen there.

Been trying to get back on it for a couple years. This summer got smoked out by a near by forest fire. Last year was a fever that put my down.
