The people shelling out 60k to hike everest are probably renting sat phones anyways, and I sincerely doubt the locals will complain having accessible communications to the outside world.

initiating fast rescues make sure you do not say this to rescuers cause they either think you are high on some Himalayan Hashish or gonner on the Mexican junga. seriously, there are no such thing as initiating fast rescues on high altitude.

It's gonna happen one way or another. Who cares. I'm not going there anyway. Supposedly you can get weak cell coverage from the summit of the Mooses Tooth in Alaska, as you have line of sight to Talkeetna and you're not that far. Personally, I like the fact that there are places in this wolrd where this technology doesn't work, and I seek those places out over connected ones.
