hey folks, Has anyone seen the film "The Mountain"? It was released in 1956, stars Spencer Tracy and Robert Wagner. I watched it recently on Netflix. Not great but not too bad. It gives an interesting view of climbing at that time. Just a heads up if you are looking for something watch on Netflix or cannot climb because you broke you right hand in a bar fight.

"North Face" and "180 South" also on Netflix. Not bad IMHO. *********** In 1936, young German climbers Toni Kurz (Benno Fürmann) and Andreas Hinterstoisser (Florian Lukas) face off against a rival Austrian duo in an attempt to be the first team to scale the infamous north face of the Eiger in the Swiss Alps. As the men make the treacherous climb, journalist Luise (Johanna Wokalek) -- Toni's childhood love -- covers the biggest story of her career. Philipp Stölzl helms this drama based on a true story.

I have no idea why everyone loves 180*. I thought it was terrible, from the story to the editing to the frat boy jack johnson soundtrack.

A little known fact: If you pick up any random movie made in the last 60 years chances are Robert Wagner will be in it.

They aid climb with a set of double ropes, clip gear, take on one, clip gear, take on the next, and so on. So, kinda reminds me of sports climbing...ha ha.
