I hold her mom and sister captive in an undisclosed location.

I gave her a kid to keep her occupied, now I tell my wife I need more climbing practice so I'm ready to teach my son how to climb when he gets old enough.

My huband tried to pull that shit. I made him fix the foundation instead.

Of course every thing backfired after he got a job and I was laid off. It was amazing the material he had to guilt me with!

From this post I assumed you were a man looking to do the same. IMO, relationships like that don't work (with a few exceptions). My wife is my main partner and we spend all our free time climbing. If either one of us didn't climb it wouldn't work. It's just too much time spent doing it. It's one thing if you are a 2-3 times a year climber, but for any serious climber it would take you away from your SO for an obscene amount of time. I don't see how any relationship like that could work.

Ok, So your wife works pays the bills and you get to climb and not work.

Why is she so altrustic, Or does she like to work and dosen't want to lose you? How did you get her to agree?

My hubby earns the big paycheck, so I get to hike/ski/climb/fish whenever. Role reversal FTW!

you would actually have to find a woman who makes any sort of money first. that's pretty challenging in its own right.

My wife doesn't work any more but I'll bet she made more than you do, skippy. When the time came for kids, it was a toss up who stays home as far as earnings go. I work with lots of women, and they all make 6 figs here. Maybe you're attracting the wrong kind of women, hmmmm

Well, our situation is kinda like this:

She makes more money then I do, because she has a degree and I don't. As long as I make enough to pay my bills and my half of the common bills, she's fine with me climbing. So, I work part time and I climb a lot. During the week I have a few partners I climb with, and on the weekends she and I climb together, because she enjoys climbing as well.

So far, it's worked out pretty well.

I threatened to kill myself if I couldn't climb full time. My wife said, "Drop dead."

My experience is that ultimatums do not work well with wife-types.

My wife is my main partner and we both work in a school, so we have a nice climbing schedule. Headed to Thailand for three weeks Firday. We climb on all school vacation.

In june, we both resign and start our own climbing business. Should be a nice new turn in our life. I have not been in business since before 2000, with he exception on some consulting to the Military and a few adventure guide services.

Now, I will return to the industry full-time. My wife and I are both trilled.
