hey folks,
my brother got me a Tibloc for Christmas. While I am pretty sure that any carabiner will work with it, I was wondering if anyone has experience with one and if certain biners work better than others or some not so well. Thanks

A class HMS or class X (oval) biner is your best bet. Class B and D carabiners work, but not as well.

Thanks guys, That was kind of what I figured. Probably just keep it on a locking oval.

From the Petzl instructions:

Carabiners
Always use the TIBLOC with a locking carabiner.
Make sure your connectors are compatible with the rope clamp (shape, size, etc.). Advice: the carabiner shape and cross-section play a significant role in the jamming of the rope. For optimal function, a round cross-section is preferred.

The Petzl Attache and Metolius Element fit these two criteria.

My go-to Tibloc biner is a BD Rocklock twister. I also have two backup Tiblocs in my caving/ascending kit, both on Petzl Attache screwgates

I have the same question. Are there any oval locking biners that you suggest? To those with the suggestion of Attache, Element and Rocklock-do they work fine for you despite not being ovals?

Although most oval have a round cross section , not all do.
I have found that the round X-section is more important than the oval shape.
If you have both then that's best.

I have never had a problem with the Rocklock or the Attache with the Tibloc. These biners are HMS-style with an almost-straight section on the top that I much prefer running through the Tibloc than the curved section of an oval. Don't ask me to explain the rationale, because I'm not sure I have one.

In addition, a Rocklock or Attache on your Tibloc gives you a bonus ICE Munter biner.
