If I'm bringing cereal, I might bring powdered milk (maybe sugar too).
Potato flakes can add to a meal / make soup.

I just bring Ron. That man is compulsively over prepared and reaping the benefits is what I do best!

Starbucks Instant Coffee - That shit is da bomb hot or cold.
Minute oats
GORP - good on it's own or in the oatmeal
Homemade cereal bars
Beef and Turkey Jerky
Stove Top Stuffing and dried cranberries (mix with turkey jerky...mmmm)
Tuna steak in a pouch
Instant Rice/couscous
Bouillon Cubes/powder
Dried veggies
Ramen
Gummy Bears and fuzzy peaches
Lots of reefer and rollies
Tang

Everything is cookable/heatable in a little pot with water so pot/burner/fuel/lighter/spork

A little weird of a list but most of time I'm carting all my food on my back from camp to camp. This is a full week with a decently varied menu, comes out to about $40 per person (without the reefer) and weighs about 5-6lbs when packed.

I've never had to hike a week with my food and fuel, so this is for car-camping, which obviously is different. (For a barometer: I consider myself to be roughing it right now because my 2-burner stove broke and I am using a Coleman single burner on a can given to me by a kind soul while I wait for my stove to go back to Campmor(who is honoring a 3m months past warranty and replacing it).
- Loaf of artistan style bread of some sort
- butter
- chedder cheese
- eggs
- granola or other cereal(can eat hot or cold)
- apples/oranges
- boxes of soup - not the water and wretched pasta with vegetable "chips"
- pasta
- tomato paste in a tube and a packet of spaghetti seasoning mix
- packet of alfredo mix(for white sauce)
- tuna packets
- crackers
- onion, green pepper, tomato, garlic. an avacado
- Fantastic Foods dried refried beans (this is a Must-Have; I actually had a store order a case for me because nobody carries then in stock any more
- tortillas
- coffee, tea, dried milk, sugar, salt, pepper
- some sweets - cookies and chocolates

That's about what I usually have as a base, and add fresh vegetables as well as a piece of fish or chicken if I can cook it that day(I no longer waste money on bags of ice; too expensive for something that only lasts 1-s days

If I was going backcountry....I'd need a seriously hard-ass pack editor

There you go. Not very much different from what you're already carrying, so as long as you have access to basic tools and a fire.

With the same note above that this is for car camping, which allows for coolers, my take is that for me it isn't about what I'm eating as much as how much time it takes to prepare and clean up afterwards. My goal is to have no pots or pans to clean up after the meal.

So the meat goes to grill-able / straight into the fire. Hobo stew, hot dogs, and steak make the cut. (Cans of roe also work well)

For starches, potato and flat bread. Tortillas, naan, pita, and lavash all work well as both food and food container.

Veg is always the hardest for me to plan for, and to be honest, I don't have a good direction here. I have done cucumbers (along with the roe, tortillas, and cream cheese), but not much success with much else.

Fruit is always brought, apples being the best "fresh" fruit. Lots of dried fruit, and I do try to avoid sulfites.

We bring milk for the coffee (and kids) and usually some cheese.

And lots of alcohol. Box o' wine packs well if you take the pouch out of the box. Scotch is also a requirement.

Bottle opener/corkscrew. Depending on your choice(s) of alcohol.

I make sure to never bring anything with tomato sauce. It is by far the hardest thing to get out of dishes.

Just an idea since you will be drunk anyway it could be easier for you to tell your family and s-o your plans to quit your job then you killed two birds with one stone.
You might want to bring something for a headache or a hangover unless you are immune to that type of thing.
Candles for Birthday Cake is quite fun especially with matches so close to the whiskey.
Be kind to your grandparents and parents one day they'll be gone- save them cake and be honest!

That's a terrible idea! I'm not spending my birthday getting nagged by my mother about responsibility.

Candles though? Good thinking.

My standard jtree food fixings are:

Shitloads of beer
Breakfast burrito items from the dollar store
A cast iron skillet
MSR stove

The only reason to drink coffee, is if your out of beer.....

I find a pan/pot is pretty much fucked if you scramble eggs in it.

Especially if you decide to clean it later.

I freeze some vacuum sealed steaks and wrap them in a couple of layers of newspaper. They will still be good after 3 days if you pack them deep enough in your pack. <-- Obligatory hiking essential.

And lots of this:

<- Not this brand, I have a butcher that makes some really proper stuff.

I vacuum pack a daily ration (150 grams).
This you can do for everyday even if you are away for a few weeks.

I've tasted your jerky.
It tastes like shit.
