i guess not "recertification", per say.. but a place to send gear out to for cleaning and inspection.... my roomate has some ropes he was to get cleaned and inspected and he is too lazy to do it himself.... and i sure as hell am not going to take care of HIS gear (or climb on it until it is taken care of, for that matter)

yeah, theres no place that i know of that will clean and inspect your ropes- im pretty sure the manufacturers wont do it. this is true for all soft goods. pretty much only hardgoods can be cleaned/inspected/repaired by manufacturers. softgoods- thats all on the owner. fwiw- the cleaning part isnt really a big deal for ropes- they dont need to be cleaned often (if at all). general inspection is semi-important if he doesnt know how to do it. otherwise, most folks just handle their ropes enough to only need to do a bend test about once a season or so.

Yes. The manufacturer of said gear. I have yet to hear of any manufacturer who will not provide an inspection of any gear that they manufacturer, assuming you’re paying shipping of course.

In reply to: Will you recertify it? I will. I only charge $300 per rope. I'll even give it a stamp of approval. The ink from the stamp might mean it needs to be tested and recertified though. I'll give you a 50% discount for any subsequent test.

Although your initial pricing seems steep, I suppose one has to pay for a quality job. Your subsequent pricing seems quite fair.
