This is a stupid question but im bored, so...If you were offered 1 millions dollar to quit climbing for the rest of your life, would you decline or accept.

I'm 61 and although I still enjoy climbing and putting up new routes, I peaked 20 years ago so yeah, I'd take the million and retire. You can bet, though, that I'll still be hiking in the mountains every day.

My son is inviting me to go sky-diving over the prairies. Andl I will, as soon as I get bored with the mountains I play in.
So the million would be a great opportunity for me to buy my own Cessna, and start a sky-diving school near town.

of course. hey, climbing is in my blood, but there are many other things in life i can inject myself with to take it's place. i'd rather see the world and not climb than climb and not see the world. it's an easy choice.

Not a hard choice. But if you said $1 million and no surfing, climbing, skiing, wake boarding, hiking or cars, I might reconsider.

Interesting. I am the same age and likewise about that far removed from my peak but my knee jerk reaction is a resounding no. I know a "million" was just a euphemism but practically it really isn't that much. But even if you ratcheted it up several orders of magnitude my answer would still be no. Outside of my kids and grandkids its the biggest deal in my life.

Absolutely not. I've already walked away from a career that could have made me a millionaire several times over in order to climb more and live a more balanced lifestyle. Having all the money in the world, and no time to spend it, is just a different sort of grind.
Now, make it $10M or so (so I could quit working entirely and just ski/bike/read etc), and we might get into a serious negotiation.

For a million, absolutely not. Other than grandkids, it is my largest interest. I also have a shit-ton of other things I do outdoors, regularly, to replace climbing, and the answer is still, no way.
Now for 10 mill, at 51 years young, I could possibly give it up for a couple of years.

One million dollars? thats not thaaaat much. I'd say no. Make it 100 Milion Pounds to really consider. But then again, what to do with the free time without having to work if you can not go cimbing...

It's the kids and grandkids I'm thinking of. I'm a man of simple needs and few desires and I'd have a hard time spending a million dollars. It would make a nice addition to my estate, however, providing we are creative enough to keep it away from Uncle Sam.

Why don't you go to an indoor climbing gym if you are bored.
Or a regular gym, or do you have a bicycle? You were trained in the Miltary , I'm sure you still have alot of energy and endurance.
All you would have to do is go to Mexico. They have everything CHEAP, people go there for dentists, doctors, fake id. etc, or border cities.
Hey, If your going to RRR , I'm sure you could get one there as well, just go where the casinos are.
