A new guide book is long over due. It'll be interesting to see how good a job these guys do with it, how much new stuff they include, and how they deal with the touchy access issues that often kept under wraps.

Does anybody know if they'll include any of new areas in the guide? I hear there's been a lot of new routes going up since the last guide.
I hope the cliff directions are clearer.

does anyone know where to get this new guidebook?
In reply to:
i've searched online and can't seemed to find anything. the ontario climbing seems to just say they'll be a new one but doesn't give any definitive date.

Sooooooo.....is this happening or not? We tried to go climbing at Bruce Peninsula this past week, and although we could find some areas, some areas we could not find, and the ones we did find, we had no info on.

It's been an extremely frustrating process trying get any guide info on any climbing areas in Ontario. People keep pointing us to sites or other people or info offices, but no one actually has any useful info.

Is there anyone out there with this info that maybe could just post it directly to the forum? Please don't refer me to anything...that always seems to lead to a dead-end. But anyone with a DIRECT LINK or PROPER BOOK TITLE AND PUBLISHER or AN ACTUAL SCANNED PHOTO of route maps, please please please share cause I'm starting to think these things don't actually exist.

Ontario is a big place for there to be just one guide.

The new guide being talked about on Ontario Climbing (and in this thread) is, as I understand it, for the Niagara Escarpment in south-western Ontario. I don't think it intends to cover all of Ontario, or anything close.

PDFs of a guide to climbing at Bon Echo (multi-pitch trad) are available from: http://www.climbers.org/...n-echo-fifth-edition.

Some decent information for Kingston Mills is available at:http://www.rockclimbingonsight.com/...ingston-mills-topos/.

Some decent information - route descriptions, some pictures of routes, for Calabogie cliff is available at: http://www.thecrag.com/area/99932787

I experienced similar frustrations in my search for area info. For example, I was told by MEC staff not to purchase the Ontario Climbing Guides as it is seven years out of date. If you have an iPhone, there are Apps with Topo/Beta for Buffalo Crag, Rattlesnake Point & Mount Nemo ($4.99 each).

As a grown adult who has recently relocated to Ontario, I am most appreciative of your welcoming attitude.

Hrmm... I guess it depends on what your definition of "Grown Adult" is.
