Hello all,

Other than possibly overkill, are there other reasons why you shouldn't use a quick link (as opposed to a carabiner) when rigging your top rope anchors?

Thanks!

It has a small radius that will increase friction in the system, and can be hard to open and close compared to a locking biner

Small diameter of the bar stock. And convenience. Quick links take a good deal longer to open and close than a locking biner.

While quicklinks are "stronger than God" ( to quote John Long) there is no quality control in their manufacture sooo...you never know when you might be using one from a defective batch. Best stick to good locking UIAA certified carabiners.
