I'm working in Boston early June and curious if there is good climbing within an hour or so of the city?

If anyone needs a partner weekend of Sunday 5th, hit me up.... i'll pack my gear and rope. I don't lead yet, but can follow trad up to 5.9 or 5.10.

Quincy Quarries is close, just take exit 8 off of 93 South from Boston. It is about 20 minutes away. It is mostly top roping and has some ok climbs.
Your best bet is to drive 3 hours to the North Conway, NH area and trad climbing is at its best in New England or head up to Rumney for some really good sport climbing.

5/5 is in the past and wasn't a Sunday. Did you mean 6/5?

I've not found anything that I would call good climbing within an hour of the city. The Quarries is probably the best bet within an hour, but it is pretty awful in my opinion.

If you can find a way to make a day trip to NH that would be a better bet. North Conway is an easy 3 hours, Rumney is closer.

Thanks for the heads up and suggestions. I just corrected the date for Sun June 5th.

If needed, any recommended guides of choice for the Conway area?

I may book one for a day of multipitch instructions in the area. Many thanks!

KC

Any of the guide services in the North Conway area will suffice but EMS & IME will have the most availability. Charlie Townsend heads up EMS and Brad White is in charge of IME. Both are great guides and great people. If you call either one they will set you up with a competent guide. EMS 800.310.4504 or IME 603.356.7064.
Cheers and Safe Climbing

Crow hill is right at an hour from Boston.

Bullshit.

It's over an hour unless you are starting well out into the suburbs already, and/or don't mind speeding tickets.

The rock is good, yes, but it seems to stay wet and the area is buggy, especially this time of year.

I stand by my original recommendation - you're better off going to NH.

Thanks, all.

I will be staying and working in Marlborough, and hopefully hitting Farley Ledge, Rose, or Crow's Hill next Sunday.

Hit me up at 864.209.9942 if needing a partner.
