Unlike skiing, climbing can never get boring. But... if a little extra fun can be added to something that's already amazing, why not go for it right? I'm interested in all feedback, whether you like the idea, hate it, or especially, if you have a creative way to add to the ways of gaining and losing points. If The G.N.A.R. doesnt mean anything to you yet, just google it. Points are gained for actual climbing and other shows of good form, lost for general douchebaggery. It could be fun to play for either the highest or lowest possible score, over a day, week, month, or season.

1- 100 points per number grade for each route cleanly led: i.e. a successful 5.8 with no hangs/falls = +800 points. Points per grade double at 5.11 and above i.e. a 5.12 send = +2400 points.

2- Say "Bro", "Brah" or any derivitive thereof and get caught: -100 points.

3- Get a stranger to belay you and address him/her with the word "bro": -300 for each use of the word while you're tied in and he/she has the belay device threaded.

4- Points for each beanie or helmet worn during the course of a day: +500.

5- Points for each baseball hat worn during the course of the day: -500 (-1000 if hat is worn backwards).

6- Take a butt shot photo: -200 points (-500 if posted on rc.com and you 5 star rate and give a good review of the photo yourself).

7- Take a slab climbing photo: -200 points (-500 if posted on rc.com and you 5 star rate it and give a good review of the pic yourself).

8- Give a stranger a lesson on local ethics while he/she is belaying: -1000 points. Subtract additional -500 for each other person that overhears the lesson. Subtract double for the lesson being blatantly wrong.

9- Skip a bolt on a sport route: +500 points per bolt.

10- Skip a useful fixed piece on a trad route: +1500 per piece.

11- Mock someone for pursuing a climbing discipline other than the one that you're doing that day: -2000 points.

12- Replace worn or otherwise dangerous hanger/bolt/anchor: +2000 points per piece.

13- Participate in crag cleanup effort: +4000 points per day.

14- Take first timer out: +2000 points.

15- French kiss while tied in and on belay: -500 points per witness.

16- Have sex in tent: +2000 points per occurrence, +4000 each time if it is below freezing.

17- Make a helmet cam video longer than 5 minutes: -2500 points (-5000 points if posted on rc.com with a 5 star self-review).

18- Say "take" before reaching the anchor: -500 per occurrence.

19- Free solo at or above 5.7: +500 points per number grade for routes 5.7-5.10, and +1500 points per number grade 5.11 and above.

20- Perform a rescue: +5000 points.

I think don't stack them, it would make soloing a sport route worth considerably more than a trad route, and soloing one thing should be equal to soloing anything else of the same difficulty right?

Also, thanks for the input Macherry, might turn out this is just another dumb idea of mine, haven't field tested it yet.

Anyone have an idea on points for boulder problems? I don't do it, so i have no idea what say a V4 problem should be worth.

I think most rc.com'ers are going to say that any boulder problems will be minus points.

Lots of weakmo's. :/

your scoring system brings shame to the game of GNAR, Mcconkey would slap you.

Why on earth would you discourage people from posting bad photos/videos?

I don't necessarily agree with all your scoring, but I love the idea. Good stuff!

Some people may choose to play for the lowest score. I know that's what I'm doing next weekend.

May I recommend a 2,3, & 15 combo?

Great idea... that dude is going to get the surprise of his life!

Anyone have any recommendations for other ways to gain lose points? I'll be expanding the list soon.

Fun idea although it would be a bit difficult to track, I like where you are going with it.

I think you could add one more:
-2000 for every time you stray beta to your partner and -4000 when you give beta to someone at the crag you don't even know.

I am horrible at this and need to be kept accountable....
