I am planning a trip to NRG or Summersville. Nobody in the group has sport/trad experience or gear. We need to exclusively be able to setup TR. Suggestions? I have done tons of searching and it looks like the Junkyard Wall is our best option. Thanks in advance!

What dates are you going to be there? I will be there over labor day weekend with sport gear and would be willing to set up a few TR routes for you (assuming we are there at the same time)

We are heading up this Saturday. I do appreciate the offer though. Do you know how easily the top is accessible at Junkyard or Summersville to setup TR anchors?

Junkyard and the bridge buttress will be your best bets.

Thanks, looks like we will be hitting up the Junkyard wall. Hope its not crowded! I've also heard that you can head a little farther down and hit up the Dog and Cat walls if Junkyard is crowded.

Ive never been there. But one thing I keep in mind when taking noobs out for a TR sesh is to make sure we are not gangbanging the warm ups to the point where people have to wait like an hour to do a 5 min warm up lap.

hope it works out for ya

We will definitely keep that in mind. Us noobs have to start somewhere :) and we'll definitely consider others. I honestly want to be as far away from people as possible.

If you're going to the NRG on a weekend and looking for easy topropes, prepare for some company. That said, I'd second the Bridge Area and Junkyard.

Yea I figured we will have company. I guess we don't really have to try easy routes, just routes that we can setup a TR. I was thinking we could try Team Jesus, Four sheets to the wind or new Yosemite. Hopefully next year we will have enough experience and gear to start sport climbing. At least that is the goal.

Not as easy as it sounds to get set up on Dog and Cat.

JY and Bridge, as mentioned upthread, are your best bets. It's also pretty east to get to Central Bridge from the top of Bridge Buttress, and it's never as crowded there, even though it's only about a one-minute walk. Skip Summersville. The top access is 100% horrible.

As long as you're generous about letting others climb through, I wouldn't worry about hogging TRs in any of those areas.
