Hi all, I was diagnosed with carpel tunnel syndrome and awaiting EMG test results. I have sharp pain in my wrists regardless of climbing, but when I climb I use tape to ease up the pain. There is a high possibility that I will need surgery in both hands. I was told it will take 6 weeks to heal. Can anyone share their experience with me on the matter? I am concerned about having the operation, and it's impact on my climbing. Thanks, Morit

The surgey is very simple, but the problem is the reson why your carpal tunel is too narrow. If you have multi tendinitis in your wrist, the tendon will be still torn and the operation will not gave you very much strenght. In my case, it was genetical. So, my canal was to narrow for my tendon as they growth with climbing exercise. The result was that I was not able to strenghten them by exercise because of the pain. I suggest you to maove your finger after the operation. took your good hand an bent every finger one of the time as they gave you your pain killer at the hopital. Did that again at each three to four our. slowly before any pain appear. One danger is that the tendon glue togheter and can not move after. Talk to your doctor for that.
