There is a possibility that I may buy Petzl Ascension Ascenders and I was wondering if these ascenders will put a lot of wear/tear on dynamic climbing ropes?

I do know that Petzl Tibloc ascender will put a lot of wear/tear on climbing ropes.

I have the petzl ascenders (the newer black/silver ones) amd they are pretty smooth on the ropes. I haven't noticed any wear due to jugging; rough rock edges and hauling make up for it though.

What I meant was, do the ascenders have sharp metal teeth grips that bite into the ropes?

The Tibloc does have sharp metal teeth grips that bite into the rope that can tear the rope up.

They do have teeth, but that isn't a significant source of wear and tear on climbing ropes under the conditions of normal use.

The only major caveat is that you should not fuck up and put yourself in a position where a toothed ascender catches the force of a fall. In some circumstances, this has chopped the rope.

There's more wear from the rope on rock than from ascenders.

No, don't worry. The wear and tear from the ascenders is minimal.
