I am on my 9th harness now. All of the harnesses worked just fine, and kept me alive and held gear.
But the last two are the only ones that impresses me as a well thought out harness.
My misty mountain Cadillac
and me Misty mountain Sonic.
both hold ample gear for trad climbing and are the most comfortable by far of any other harness I have owned. Plus they have a full strength haul loop in back
My petzl corax was alright. I really don't have a positive or negative about it.
My BD chaos really sucks and was the most uncomfortable harness. and tiny gear loops and no haul loop.
for sport climbing my BD momentum was good, but the gear loops were too small for much trad.

Yea I have the BD momentum right now and it works great for sport but not so much for trad.

I just got the Arteryx R280, and I really like it. I wanted to try a Misty Mountain, but you can't get them where I live, so I can't comment on them.
Definitely try before you buy, though. Hang around in each harness on your short list for a few minutes before making your final choice. Most good gear stores will have something you can hang on.

I've had a Black Diamond Momentum for about a year now. No complaints.
I was in Vermont (without gear) and used a Petzl Corax provided by my guide and I really liked it. I got one a few weeks ago when there was a $15 discount (reg price around $65). I prefer it in terms of comfort over the BD Momentum but again, no complaints.

I really like Misty Mountain's Cadillac. It has plenty of gear loops (6) and is uber-comfy.
I own the Titan as well and love because of all the extra padding, and have heard good things about the Intrepid model if you want to go for a more streamlined setup.

Yo dude, I'll be coming back to the UK in November, and will be making a short trip to the US in April for a wedding. Let me know if you want me to bring one back to ya! They do make them down the road from where I grew up ;)

Did Misty ever fix the little annoyance with the webbing folded near the buckle on the Cadillac? The older models had the edge from the hot-knife cut in just the right place to rub on my stomach/hip. Or am I the only one who had that problem?
I'll still shamelessly plug Misty Mountain because they're a good local company with really great people and quality gear that my friends all love.
to the OP: A couple of years ago, I got a Wild Country Elite Ziplock. I LOVE it, and it will take some serious convincing for me to consider another brand now. 5 sizable gear-loops, fairly light, plenty durable, and SUPER comfy. The only improvement I might make would be to extend the width of the leg-loops a little farther to the front on the outer (lateral) portion for people with larger legs than mine [It works fine for me, but my friend said the leg loops put a bit of persistent pressure at the retaining webbing loop that he didn't like when on hanging belay. Fix that and it would create harness perfection, IMHO]. The Synchro has more gear loops (7-9 depending on size) and is a bit beefier, but I get my over-sized rack on the Elite just fine.

Onrope1 Endurance harness (padded model). Widest leg loops and hipbelt around without being as heavy as yates big wall harnesses. But be sure to thread waistbelt thru a 2" plastic triglide buckle before and after threading thru main adjustment buckle, as backup.

Yates big wall harness', can't miss with a big wall harness in comfort ,gear loops. pretty much the best way if your willing to spend for it.

or the yates astroman.....a bit heavy but a burley mo'fo'
....made in redding california AND if you call the factory, they will custom match different sizes swami and leg-loops to fit your dimensions

Another vote for Misty Mtn. Made in USA and the most comfortable harness I've ever used. Bulky and heavy though. (I have an Arcteryx 320 for long approaches and hot weather)

I just picked up a Wild Country Synchro and am loving it. I wouldn't use it for sport, though. It's almost got too many gear loops.

I run a custom Misty Cadillac. I had them make me one with non-adjustable leg loops since I found I A)Never adjusted my old Caddy and B) The leg buckles were always the first spot to show wear as they seemed the most exposed to "rock groveling"
There are certainly other nice harnesses out there but there's a reason you see an "Apple Fanboy" following with Misty Mountain Cadys

I have those too. Of the multiple harness's I own, these 2 and the massive Metolius Waldo are my favs. Those 3 sizes cover everything I do. I have a Yates Shield (the Metolius is better), a mammut, a Petzl and a Black Diamond as well. If I could only have 2, those are the 2 I'd keep.
If I could only keep one, it would be the Misty Mt Cadillac.

i done alot of searching on here before i bought my harness to use for trad. i kept reading good reviews of the misty mountain cadillac and got it. i have really liked this harness. its comfy and i love the gear loops cause i rack on my harness.
