Anyone have detailed info on the events surrounding the benighting of a couple on top of Seneca Rocks on 11/5/11? At 4:30 that day we walked by two climbers beginning what I think was Thais at 4:30pm. Around 10pm or so from our camp-sight at Yokums we saw a powerful search light sweep across the two peaks several times. On the following morning we saw a party of two stranded at the left end of the Pleasant Overhangs traverse. We raced to assist them, but two parties were already en-route and other vehicles soon arrived.

I was there this weekend and saw the rescue vehicles Sunday morning/afternoon. I rapped off the skyline traverse anchors pretty late, maybe 6pm. There were a few parties still climbing in the area, but I was too far from pleasant Os to notice anything. The next day I heard that they were unable to find anchors up top, tried bailing on their own gear and the rope got stuck when they pulled it. Different versions of the details don't make sense or even conflict, so I really hope someone with first hand knowledge can chime in here.

Well, I really hope everyone is alright. Nobody wants anyone to get hurt, but I also would really like to be able to laugh about this.

Don't worry Autumn, I'll do the laughing for both of us....BWAhahahahahahaha!!

I love watching headlamps do the midnight dance from my cosy fireside seat.

As long as nobody was injured, go right ahead and laugh your ass off.

I can tell stories of my getting caught out after dark! They were more than worthy of laughs...

I've been benighted everywhere I've climbed--even Hueco Tanks!!! I think it has something to do with all those late starts.
