Anyone have any info about rock climbing (as opposed to mountaineering) in Nepal, especially around Pokhara? I'm heading there in February for work, and would love to arrange a side trip. Thanks.

Perhaps you have already found some trips around Pokhara? If not, stop in at the Adrenaline Rush office at Lakeside and they can help you find some routes in the area. There is also really cool canyoning not too far away... you might try that as well.

We are in Kathmandu, but can help if you need advice.

We have found a great place on the way to/from Pokahara called Bimal Nagar (it's right on the main highway to/from Pok & KTM). They have a really challenging rock, and also caving that you can do. It is about 70 km from Pokhara, near Bandipur. Not a lot of accomodation, but if you have a tent, there is camping space and restaurant across the road from the climbing rock at "Helen and Rocky Land." You need to bring your own equipment, as they have no rentals or anything like that. This is a really fun place with great scenary.

There is a good rockclimbing location just above Lake side, it's private and entrance should be admitted at EWN/3 Sisters adventure at the counter of EWN building. There is some rental but no ropes. Grades of the 14 climbs are from 4c up to 6b (rock of sand/limestone and pretty steep). More information you will find on trekinfo.com

So my GF and I are coming to Nepal. After our peak is done, we're maybe staying in Nepal for a few more weeks.

In which case, I've read on some places to climb, but it seems they're all guided and "learn". We're looking for some trad-multi-pitch that's easy to get to. We'll probably bring our rack...

There doesn't seem to be any guide books.

I feel like this is somethin we have to go to the local guide/outdoor shop to find something.

Is this true?

Could someone help out with any more climbing location/routes/grades?

Thaaaanks!! =)
