there are many obvious classics like Cliffhanger or Captain Kirk in Star Trek; then some obscure solos like the Monster's climb of the castle wall in Young Frankenstein....my vote goes to Jon Voight's midnight solo out of the river gorge in Deliverance

The Deliverance solo was most impressive because it was done under pressure of not only falling, but rape and murder as well.

Matt Damon free solo down climbing the embassy in The Bourne Identity Pirate

that and Wesley's Free solo in the second act of The Princess Bride

ahhh dang it, one more, Leonidas Free solo & dyno in 300

The guy free soloing the hotel in K2. Not for the solo, but for the line his friend says when the street guy asks him if he's a cat burgalar (sp) Laugh

The scene in Open Season 1 where the bear gets "jelly arm" while soloing the cliff and then falls.

Never had the jelly arm myself, but I've had the jelly leg a few times. It can be a real menace while soloing.

Ok, clearly these really are the best free solos, but I just found, through a climber's blog, one of the most amazing depictions of sport climbing in a movie: you're welcome
