I was thinking of climbing ice in Cody the whole week prior to the festival. I need partners though!
I got a handful of screws and all my own kit. My happy place on lead is on WI3+ and 4- but mileage is what I'm after most. I can climb WI5, just don't have the experience yet to take the sharp end.
Anyway, I'm easy-going and got connections in Cody so we can escape to some warmth. I've climbed there like 6 separate weekends this year and am totally addicted. Cody ice is fantastic!

I was told that the easier routes will be all sewn up for classes. will there be WI 1-3 routes open near town?

There isn't much for classes in cody. There isn't much for easy ice either. However there are a handful of wi3s of the epically awesome variety. This is not ouray, our ice is about a mile walk at the least. Think yosemite of ice, but no roads, no crowds.
I wouldn't worry about people. This is wyoming afterall, lowest population of any state, and cody is a ways from any interstate. Only awesome people and awesome outdoors.

After afterparty rave is happening Monday night at deer creek campground AKA the south fork campground. Live DJs. BYOLiquor. Mixed climbing comp.
