I'm from the UK - I'll be travelling to Vancouver end of May this year. Can anyone tell me of a good source of information about climbing in the area - maybe a guide book for Vancouver Island?

Many thanks
Alan

The climbing on Vancouver Island is Horrible! I have lived and climbed extensively in most every developed climbing area in BC. Having lived on the Island for 4 years and having climbed extensively around the southern end of the Island, I can say with all confidence that Vancouver Island is home to the worst climbing in BC. The crags around Victoria are exceptionaly bad. I wouldn't loose all hope though. Just across the water is one of the best climbing areas in North America, Squamish.

Thanks for the tip - I just had a look at Squamish on Google Earth and you can see the contour of the limestone, amazing.

Hey,

I'm at a place called Skaha near Penticton, BC. Climbing here is extensive and rad. I'm from Calgary but moved out here for a month to climb. I mostly sport climb and lead up to low 11s. If you wanna head out here let me know as I'm hoping to find more climbing buddies. I should me around until mid May. I think it's about a 5-6 hour drive from Van. Have a swell trip,
