When making a top rope anchor why can't I just simply put the rope around a sturdy tree.

It wears out the tree for 1 reason. Probably the best of about 4 or 5 other reasons.

It will result in loads of friction. It will wear your rope. You will damage the tree. You will potentially hurt future access by causing environmental damage. Other climbers will view you unfavorably for those last two reasons.

O I see what you mean. Okay well in the future I will have to find a instructor to teach me how to make an anchor system
