This fine mild winter you loved so well brought the ticks, chiggers, and mosquitos out a month early, and has the copperheads and rattlers out in numbers along the rivers and through the talus fields of the Mountaineer State. There have also been some local reports of rabies in raccoons... be advised.
Just one more way that climbing in WV is not just a sport, IT'S AN ADVENTURE!!!

Don't forget poison ivy (oak?)..one of the worst I've had was from a trip to Seneca

Jay- the poison ivy (oak is out west, and my wife is deadly allergic) is just starting to get leaves, oddly enough... which is when it most virulent, of course. For anyone who suffers a sensitivity to poison ivy or oak, I recommend Tek-Nu gel, which you can apply before exposure to prevent the rash, or after to alleviate the itch.
