Good place to start is with a local guide who can teach you to transition to outdoor climbing safely. Don't learn from your friend who is "really experienced" because he's been climbing outside for a few years and has somehow managed to not kill himself even though he doesn't understand the physics behind forces, falling and anchor construction. Check with your local climbing gym and see if they can recommend someone with ACMG certification.

Bouldering or climbing? For bouldering, probably Niagara Glen. For climbing -- there's a number of places on the Niagara escarpment in/around the Milton/Halton Hills area. I would second finding someone experienced to go with. Getting a guide is one possibility. Another choice would be looking into joining the Toronto chapter of the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) -- they likely run rock climbing trips in your area that you could join. http://www.climbers.org/...tion-and-how-to-join

The internet (and especially RC.com) really isn't the place to learn these things. There are a number of good books out there, but going out with experianced people or taking a course on the matter is a better idea.

The discussion there's seems to be limited to bolting, chopping, weather, bugs, and whining about said topics.
