price1869 wrote: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/7G7LG7G Just follow the link. Thanks. Why should we? What is the purpose of the survey? What do you plan to do with the information you gather? And it's not even a link, is it?

Please stop perpetuating the myth that there are devices that work automatically. They do not. Refer to them as locking assist or assisted braking. Change the language and I'll fill out your survey.

I made your link clicky. edited to add: Having seen the questions, I think you benefit more from a quick analysis of your survey than from a response Question 1: ok, so your first question misses the Munter hitch (or HMS if you cater to germans) which is far more common than hip belay (that looks like a joke option)... second, your question assumes that one has a prefered device for all climbing (which is not the case for me - I could respond all of the above - depending on the situation) Thirdly: THERE. ARE. NO. AUTO-BLOCKING. DEVICES! Question 2: see Q1 point 3. Question 3: The listing of your tube belay devices seems random (2 Petzl, 2 BD) The Other option should be at the end with a text field. Question 5: If ladders should be funny, it isn't. (Alpine and Ice are missing) Question 6: Question is general "climbing equipment", yet first answer option is "Device" Your survey is also missing a remarks or free text field, I which I would have posted my comments one question remains, what is that survey for? I assume a School project? What are the questions you want to answer?

On the last question, I would suggest included Function, which often differs from "ease of use", but includes reliability and safety record. I believe that most folks would have selected that. Function is the prime reason climbing gear is selected for me anyway.

I swear Mal has a sixth sense for whenever someone says 'auto-locking'!

I took your survey even though it needed the modifications mentioned by previous posters. What is the purpose of this survey?
