Hey, I've been doing a little research with no answer to my question. I bought a sterling slim gym rope for a good price and was wondering if it could be used for outdoor climbing? I've found that they might have a stronger sheathe to endure the abuse they get in the indoor gym environment, so i don't see why it would be a bad idea to use it outdoors but want to get the opinion of the community- as i am not an expert in the area what so ever. Thanks

I use a Bluewater rope designed for gym use outdoors. I do some leading with it but mostly top-roping so I appreciate the stronger sheath.

Yes you can use it outside. However, some gym ropes are actually low stretch/ semi-static ropes rather than dynamic ropes. If this is the case with your rope, you cannot lead on it. Check to find out which model it is and that will tell you if it is truely a dynamic rope or not.

it is a dynamic rope, and from what ive read, the elasticity is actually supposed to be a bit more 35% vs ~30% of other ropes
