new to rock climbing and need help

I am new to rockclimbing I have always wanted to do it but dont know where to start. I am from the chicago land area in the US midwest. Any advice on where to go to start or groups to check out would be very appreciated

search online for climbing gyms in your area. learn the basic skills there as well as meet other climbers from the area who will take you out and help you learn and grow as a climber. you have Lake Shore academy, vertical endeavors, the climbing wall at lvac, and a few others around chicago. go check em out and get the ball rolling!

This is probably the best advice to give to anyone, but I would like to add one thing. Make sure you also learn all the "Safety Issues" as well.
