Good news is no more rotating shifts for donny.
Bad news, no more paychecks.
Good news, I see an extended road trip in my future.
I heard it on the news this morning.

Sucks... Sorry to hear.

Well, hopefully they keep you on for the decomissioning, though that may not take long since y'all weren't too operational anyway. If not, you can always seek employment down on the navy bases here, else make like migrant and inhabit Washinton or AZ?
Yea, I don't know. They're not going to need many for what they got to do, and most of decomissioning likely to be contracted out.
Don't know what I'll do next. Been here too many years. Stay local, hit the road, relocate. Hard to say. Haven't been looking for work, just seeing what has been coming by. So there appears to be some work out there.
Would be nice to have a small break in between. But with some certainity with where I'll end up. That would be ideal.

WA state for the win. are you in the nuclear business? that's what the husband does.

Ma.... go back to payge one!

crap
Lets try again...
no you got it.
And Wa is deff on the radar. Have friends in Spokane, and yea thats not where Columbia etc is, but its close. Family is here in CA, so who knows. We'll see how the whole thing shakes out.

Jobs in Canada?

It's a small, euro-style cafe with an upbeat, and somewhat upscale clientele. the clientele is upper middle class professionals, but young (30s - 50s) in a good neighborhood.

I'll only get about 10-12 paintings in there, but it'll be good for me. These could be the kind of clients I'm looking for.

another good thing is that a few of my good students (i.e. - regular and able to buy) couldn't make it to my last exhibit. Hoping they can this time around.

You prefer a steam bath?

No.

That's why I wanted to leave the East: it's not the heat, it's the humidity stupidity.

Although my wife doesn't like getting " Ma'am"ed everywhere.

I do that too!

We hit Old Town Albuquerque today. Pretty fun, and the 100 degree temps were doable. I bought a nice embroidered Ecuadoran shirt from the coolest vendor of the day.

Tomorrow is Petroglyph National Monument with trails that allow dogs; the little herders are proving to be the crux of making plans.

I brought all of my Etsy goods in the RV, about 18 items, and just got an order for a 15" drum, the one that suffered a broken beater stick back in NH. I spent tonight remaking it with a pine branch, white leather, and fox fur trim that I also brought. Probably have to find a UPS store to package it and send it off to BC.

The $175 sale will pay for 2 1/3 tanks of gas, or about 433 miles. Yay!

So she arranged the babysitting, and we weaded out to vegas fri am. We did some shopping, lounging by the pool, saw DaM, the fountains, and hung out on the strip.
But Sun we headed over to REI. Yes there are closer REI's to me, but this REI is right off Charsleton, and as it turned out 2 blocks from our hotel. And this REI had 7 different guidebooks on RR, while mine had none. Otherwise you could barely tell the difference. Other than picking up the book, didn't kill any time at REI. From there headed over to RR. Really didn't have much time to explore the are, had to hit the road back home. But at least now I can say I've been there.*

I must say the strip is kinda zoo. Parking at the Flamingo was a pain. Walking down the strip a half a mile took forever. It wasn't quite elbow to elbow/shoulder to shoulder. But quite crowded. Too short of time away.
Otherwise a good trip.

My younger brother is going to Vegas for an MLG (Major League Gaming) tournament and tried to get me to go along. Fuck that. I doubt I will ever set foot in that city. It is all that makes me twitchy in this world.

Don't know dude. The climbing there is pretty fucking sweet.

I've been there three times, and each time I've stayed at the Suncoast Casino. I've stayed there because it's relatively cheap and pretty close to the Loop (15 min and you're at the parking lot). I've never, ever dropped a penny or more on any slot machine, on a show, on anything that's "vegas related." Not interested in that city at all, but it's damn worth it for the climbing. (actually, I stayed in a time share one of those times).
We stayed right next to there at the Marriott. And yea, right next to the Red Rock loop. Well off the strip, and the zoo that it is.
Give me the 411. how where the rooms and pool at the sun coast? Cause if they are nice and the rates are great, maybe the place to stay.

Can't compare to the Marriott, but I think they were good rooms (as in, quite comfortable, clean, spacious, and with good bathrooms). Nothing to complain about at all. Always quiet. The pool and the hot tub are pretty nice, too, but both are standard. The restaurants downstairs were adequate but not great. The easy thing is that the side door doesn't leave you walking through too much of the casino on the way to the elevator.

The views are relatively nice, too, depending on where your room is.

I think weekends there they are about $150/night and weekday they are about $35/night.

I think it's main business is the golf course.

OK.

We've blown out a couple tires over the years. And we'll pull off the freeway to change them. Assuming of course there is an off ramp in the next couple miles. I am more procative about replacing them now.
Also saw the fresh water tank on the ground. nice. The joys of RV ownership. :Don

Yep, Karol thought she heard a noise and then the car behind us passed and pointed for us to pull over. We slowed down and crossed the rumble strip immediately then got out to find no tire remnants and the mangled rim resting on the asphalt.

I set about calmly putting on the spare while Karol frantically tried to help where she really had no business helping. I told her to take this pic, kinda like telling a father to boil water when his wife goes into labor. It wasn't nearly as much of a time suck for her as I had hoped.
