Got out climbing after work last night. Did get on anything too hard, but gave a good onsight effort to one route. I had a really hard time figuring out a reachy move, with the last bolt at my feet with a fall that wasn't going to be plesent to take I gave up, clipped the bolt on the route next door, hung out for a while, then finally figured out the tenuous move.

Yay, side benefits of grid-bolting!

And good jorb figuring out the move.

Being a grown-up is not fun at all. I've been really slacking in the cleaning department, because I have been spending so much time planting and weeding. With the kids being out of school as of this week, the mess is about to increase exponentially.

Planting and weeding is a lot of work too. I actually need to redo the landscaping on my front yard, but I'm having problems coming up with evergreen options to plant right next to the stairs. I would like to plant some euonymus again but we just ripped the last ones out because of scale and I don't know how long it takes the shit to die off in the ground.

But I've been slacking in the cleaning department too. I was doing good with Nathan coming up every couple of weeks, but recently I have just let it go.

In other news, went to Kid1 Middle School graduation ceremony. Found out he got an award. He "forgot" that he had a piece of paper that said something about him getting an award, and he lost that piece of paper, so it was a pleasant surprise.

At some point this child does need to figure out how to keep his shit together and actually, you know, pay attention.

I'm really confused by the high school. Every school is different, every city has it's own standards, and rules, and what not. So, he better figure things out fast, or it would be an interesting year in 9th grade:

Honors Algebra II
Honors Biology
Honors English
Chinese 2
AP European History.

Oh, and some other minor stuff.

I like variegated Euonymus, they are nice. But i have no idea how long the scale stays. How about something like Aucuba? (Spotted laurel)

That's quite nice actually. And it's evergreen?

Appeal of the euonymus is that they're also pretty cheap and easy to keep to a reasonable size (the ones we chopped out were probably 25+ years old). I'll look into it it though and see if the nurseries around here carry it.

Ya, I've offered before. You, me, and the other Downeastah I cohabitate with should get out some time. We can work out details via PM or the email addy I sent you if you're interested.

LOL. It doesn't matter to me. All these flies buzzing around might get kind of annoying eventually, though.

We're all the same person, anyway. At least, doc and snoop are the same fat guy in Arkansas named Phil.

I have no idea what your schedule's like, but my summer schedule is that I typically climb Tues and Thurs afternoon/evening, and on the weekend. But I can be flexible on which afternoon/evenings I climb.

Just let me know your schedule and we can find a time to go play.

I don't carez! Yeah, spotted laurel is evergreen, and pretty sturdy, in terms of cutting it down to size. But Euonymus is hard to beat for ease of maintenance.

Went to xzzzz. Had to camp in the ultra-redneck second-string campground, as the hatchery road was full, and the gate isn't open yet. Got in at midnight thursday. Campsite had a bunch of poison ivy, so we picked up the tent and moved it friday am. Had to bathe beardog, which was an experience.

Friday, went up to the greater mondo area. Warmed up with laps on an easy .8, and then floated my radgnar .10d proj. You know, the warm-up for all the real climbers. Yup. I climbed that. Went and did some other stuff that day, feeling pretty good. I think I'm finally back to climbing at pre-avocado levels. Got hit with a soaker rainstorm and went into town to check email. We're in the process of moving, and the landlord is vacationing in romania(absentee landlordism ftw), so we've been emailing on a ten hour delay.

Saturday, went up to the french cattle ranch. climbed euro-trash girls, and a few others. Bonked at 4 pm and had to take a nap. Came back to campsite and met Kathryn and her roadtrip partner.

Sunday took them to the circus area, as we had to leave by 2, and it gets morning shade. Blew a hole in my moccs while doing the climbs i've done a bunch of times. Left at three.

Posting from the crapper right now. Poop #2.

What size mocs? I think I have a brand new pair of Art's
42.5 or 10.

I think one year in middle school my mom bought me three or four different planners because I kept losing the thing that was supposed to help me keep track of the things I needed to keep track of.

and it wasn't that I wasn't paying attention. it really wasn't. I did try really hard to keep track of stuff. I just... couldn't.
