According to authorities, Ronald Czajkowski, 44, was found dead in a rock climbing harness early Friday morning. They believe that Czajkowski was only a beginner climber and he may have tied a knot into his rope incorrectly.

from another report:

Sheriff Craig Apple tells local media outlets that 44-year-old Ronald Czajkowski (chuh-KOW-skee) of East Greenbush was found dead in a rock-climbing harness early Friday morning near a waterfall in Thacher Park.

Apple says Czajkowski was a novice climber who may have improperly rigged his climbing rope. Sheriff's investigators say the man apparently came to the park alone around sunrise and tried to rappel down a 120-foot cliff, but didn't properly secure his anchor at the top.

“We determined this was only his third time doing this,” "He leaves behind two sons -- Dylan, 11, and Cody, 19 -- and his daughter, Taylor, 18. "

How sad. What a needless waste. My heart goes out to his family.
