The letter is ready to be sent to key representatives. If you live in the Southeast, or have at any time, please go to http://www.coolclimbing.com/yonahaccess1.htm read the info on that page. Then, click on the link at the bottom, "how you can help". There, you will find the document conveniently linked in 3 formats, as well as the names/addresses of the representatives to which the letter should be sent. Then, look at Mr. Crowder's main pages by clicking all the boxes at the bottom. Lots of cool pics! Do you know how close the road is to being built?

Not anywhere near close. Please read the page above carefully. In my mind and in the mind of others, it's not the convenience factor as far as having a shorter hike, it's the fact that the present road could be closed at any moment to even foot traffic, while all the time being maintained for the wealthy residents at taxpayer expense. We need to be covered when that happens.

It's too bad we couldn't "fix" the gate issue with a truck and some chains.....

You're welcome, Jen. Didn't you guys go there recently? Any SUV's with "gate priviledges" pass you on the way up? Makes me see red, especially when I get to the top and see them crashing through the brush to make themselves a new cliffside campsite.

We were up there about a 1 1/2 months ago and then again 2 weeks ago (obviously I'm a glutton for punishment!!!). Didn't see any SUV's with gate privileges. When we were there in Dec, one of the residents was nice enough to give us a ride to the gate though.

I copied the letter. Going out to all listed addresses in the snail mail in the morning. On the good stationary too!

Good thing, Mike! I just e-mailed all the ones I could do on there. It took me all of 20 minutes. Zell Miller's was down, though.

Here' a couple of links with some info on Yonah. Flatliners website states that all the climbing is on the main face shown in the pic at the top of their page. there's actually a lot more than that. http://blackdogexpeditions.com/hotspots/yonah.htm#acc http://www.seclimbers.org/areas/georgia/mount-yonah.shtml

That main face is only a small percentage of what's available there. The new access points should make all the lower areas much more accessable.

Yeah. I want to visit the Gumby Slab. Nothing like a bunch of friction routes in the 5.4-5.6 range all stuck together. Start at one end and do them all in a day! FUN!!

There seems to be some misunderstanding here. The link on the first post in this thread has a link and instructions. The Yonah letter is READY MADE FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE, complete with convenient links to send it to! Please, always read the first post in this type of thread.
