I recently got a mammut sensor rope that has a very nice tapered finish on the ends. Basically it looks like in addition to the normal hot seal they shaved a bit of the rope sheath off to give it a slight taper.
I've found this is much less prone to wear than a normal straight cut w. tape on it, and it threads into knots easier.
I want to give my other rope this same end, just wondering if anyone knows is there any particular way this is normally done?
I have an old rope to practice on, I guess I can just take my knife and start shaving a bit of the sheath off at the end but seems like there must be a better technique to it.

Shape and form the taper with a hot (ie: really hot) butter knife or something similar.

Like fuzzing up on the LAST INCH of the rope is a big problem?

I find a candle and crushing it between fingers works ok. Some people snip out a little of the core from end.
The main reason to do it is to make sure the end is less likely to snag on a rap.
