Carderock Jeff Farrar R.I.P.

I started climbing at Carderock, MD in 1978, and if I've been there 200 times, I'd seen Jeff there about 187 times. Never have I seen him with a rope attached. He knew his routes well enough to forego that.
Tall and slim and good natured. Always ready to get into a coversation, though I'd never seen him confrontational. I can't begin to imagine why anyone would feel the need to beat this guy to death with a hammer. He'll be missed
