Hey weasly. How's it goin

Doing well. Living at the Red and climbing all the time, a pretty sweet gig. How about yourself?

Did you get married? What happened to that whole SF thing. Sweet that you're climbing every day though.

That was as bit of a nonstarter. Some stuff came up right before the big move, and I ended up staying in Athens for another year doing the weekend warrior thing pretty hard. Then, I went to the Red for my summer off and decided I didn't really want to go back to teaching right away if it meant I couldn't climb everyday. For some reason, I have spent the winter at the Red, which has been interesting to say the least.
after thanksgiving I found the red completely changed in character. Not only did the number of people around drop to like 5%, but it was soooooo cold.

Imagine it dropping to .01 percent. That is what this winter has been like, but this has also been the coldest and snowiest winter in several decades.

Sort of a waste of time. I had to bushwack at the too of the cliff for what seemed like forever through what appears to be a tornado zone, and then the line had a five foot section on it that seems impossible. Ended up scrubbing another line I had bolted for a few hours.

leave it for the next generation. don't murder the future.

It would be interesting to see if it could be climbed by anyone.

That sounds like my johnny boy. Always deliberately dry in a drop dead obvious manner.

living in edinburgh and playing vidyagames all the time.

Any good ones?
Mostly eve online. Pretty much just eve, actually.

That game looks pretty cool.
It's fun, although sometimes you have to spend a lot of time setting up for the really fun stuff.

hallo!

new job is hurting my posting :(

new job is ok, but I immediately got sick... The germs around here are intense.

even though I've been sick, I went skiing this weekend in Mammoth.

Day one was windy and I was really tired from being sick.
we got snow overnight though, and I got to play with some demo skis, so day 2 was a lot more fun. I went down a few steeper runs and playing in the trees (poorly) but I am improving... I think I need to take some intermediate lessons or something and learn some actual technique...

super busy until the wedding, so not too many more adventures for a couple weeks

What about the Boulder gig?

You need to get sick more often, have more adventures. weddings are secondary.

boulder gig was off, then on, then off, then on, now ... off with a maybe of being on again Crazy

as was another gig that fell into my lap that would have been a full work remotely gig, but that as fallen through at the moment as well.

anyhoo... in the meantime I am working on a contract in San Diego.

if something fell in my lap that was more solid, I'd probably jump on it. Otherwise the current plan is to start looking at jobs near the mountains again in mayish or at least after the wedding (less than a month!!)

at least you've got some opportunities. better to have them fall through than to have none at all. maybe the good one will finally land in your lap. maybe they're waiting until after the wedding.

I'm taking a mental health day today, dammit. Waiting for an insurance company to sign off on my proposal so I can start a nice job in Morrison. Probably a month of work doing finish, kitchen, flooring, tile, and running subs.

Only problem is, my back is killing me. I think I tweaked it Saturday on an .11d at Table. Right now it's lathered up with Tiger Balm, I've been stretching gently; if only Colorado had access to a medicine that is illegal in most of the country... Oh, wait. Angelic

56 degrees and sunny.

Congrats on getting the job. Edge should be happy as squatting normally leads to fertilizer. Be careful not to eat at too many over-priced, ridiculously-underwhelming trendy restaurants (a tall task I know). And be sure to ask the bums for a belay (after giving them the remainder of your said food above, of course). Remember that you hate Eldo, but love the climbs, and the opposite is true of Boulder Canyon.

In short, that's awesome. When do you start vs. get married vs. move?

Sad that Paco de Lucia died yesterday. Dude was only 66. He never learned to read music. Fucking amazing. Listening to some of his stuff today whilst learning the tricks of watercolor. Definitely in the mood.

It's funny because Flamenco has such a huge history. I mean, many of the most famous flamencos (dancers, singers, musicians) never recorded, but they live in this world of clouds that defines the genre. But until Paco came along it was just flamenco. The giants had all started to die and no one was stepping up to replace them. Then Paco burst on the scene in the late 60s (after having some fame in the inner circles before that) and now flamenco is pretty much divided up into Before Paco and After Paco. The genre spun based on his contributions. The dude was a giant. Really a sad day.

Ok... maybe on again...

flying out to Boulder for about 24 hours very soon to talk to le company...

time to get smart very fast

decision time!

the jorb iz mine if I want it

Woo!!!!

And STAY OFF MY LAWN!!!!!!

I'm moving! to edge's lawn!!

well unless I find some other place to squat

Congrats on getting the job. Edge should be happy as squatting normally leads to fertilizer. Be careful not to eat at too many over-priced, ridiculously-underwhelming trendy restaurants (a tall task I know). And be sure to ask the bums for a belay (after giving them the remainder of your said food above, of course). Remember that you hate Eldo, but love the climbs, and the opposite is true of Boulder Canyon.

In short, that's awesome. When do you start vs. get married vs. move?

married in a couple weeks (the 16th) then start new job 6 days after we get back from the honeymoon

I think I will have to eat nothing but sushi and mexican food from now until then... I hear those are the foods I will miss

I'd be surprised if there aren't any sushi or mexican places in Boulder, unless you're talking about taking your honeymoon in Nome.

new job is hurting my posting :(

new job is ok, but I immediately got sick...

I think I need to take some intermediate lessons or something and learn some actual technique...

super busy until the wedding, so not too many more adventures for a couple weeks

just because there are restaurants doesn't make them good Wink

I'm sure it will be fine, but according to several people who have relocated from San Diego to Denver/Boulder, those were the two foods they have had trouble finding good replacements

When California falls into the sea, Colorado will be that much closer to the ocean and on that day sushi will be readily available.

Been quite on here. Just want to throw out best wishes to Donny after his skiing accident. Been a rough year for you, but hopefully you'll recover well and in time for rock this year. Best...

Curitiba is not a Carnival town, so this place is dead right now. Kind of spooky and cool at the same time. Got loads of laundry done, the lady helped to clean the apt yesterday, got some work done for a website I work for, and getting ready to paint today.

A nice relaxing week in general, but I do wish I was at the beach...or climbing a rock.
