Burke emergency officials initially got a 911 call from people on a nearby mountain who saw the man fall, Roland said. Shortly afterward, the man who was holding the rope for the fallen climber called and said his companion had fallen and was injured.

There is a thread on MP about these. There are two separate accidents.

The first, at Crowders, was a person by himself. First indication is that this was someone who was rope soloing. Not sure if it was TR or lead, but since it's Crowders, I'd bet it was a solo TR. UNfortunately, this accident became a fatality. RIP.

There was also a helicopter rescue off of Shortoff on the same day. This person is in the hospital. Hope he heals up.
