Got some wood from a coworker of mine. He doesn't know what type of tree it came from. Wondering if it's decent for smoking meat.

I can't really see enough detail from the pic on my phone. It looks like it has ray fleck across the annular rings, but it's hard to tell. Where was the log harvested? And if you have any apple orchards nearby, now is the time of year they do their pruning, and that is great wood for grilling.

No idea what species of tree that's from, but most any hardwood can be used to cook with. I say try and see what happens.
