There is some free camping on BLM land up Pine Creek Canyon, near Bishop. Depending on how late you are, though, it may get a bit chilly up that high. (We got snow in early October last year.)

There's an inexpensive campground just off the same road, just outside Bishiop, too.

if you climb at the happy or sad boulders, you can camp at "the pit" or, dont turn on chalk bluff road, go up and around the hill on top of the table lands, the first left turn on the road is a mile long dead end of camp sites, approx, 10 min drive from the happys and sads....if your going to the buttermilks, camp right there at the area...druid stones, camp right at the boulders, just be smart.... if your going to the dreamers and pocketopea, you can camp right there on the sherwin plateu

Oh yeah, lots. The Obed is beautiful, and fun. Kentucky, you say... I do have to admit that the RRG is by far my favorite place to sport climb in the south east, though.

With 11 posts since registering in 2011, I guess we can understand the OP not knowing about where it says SEARCH up there in the upper right corner of the forum page. Enter "boulder camping" hit go and you get 593 results:

Thanks, but i really wanted more current information considering that most of those threads are like a decade old. Access is not always permanent as any climber should readily know.

I agree, but as far as I know, the camping situation in Boulder, which always sucked, hasn't changed appreciably.
