Email: obedriverhostel@gmail.com Location: TN, Lancing https://www.facebook.com/obedhostel More Information Currently we are looking for adventurous, independent people who would be interested in trading work for stay at the hostel - especially those into climbing and paddling, since these are the main attractions of the area (there's not much else going on around here!) We have some pigs and lambs we raise for meat, so fencing is always needing repair or construction. Carpentry and handyman work is always needed. Chainsaw work and firewood-gathering are also needed. Additionally, there is plenty of space and potential for someone to work on their own experiments relating to sustainable living... we do this because we have a passion for it, and we're sure you do too! The hostel started in 2004, when a couple of founders purchased wooded property overlooking the Obed Wild and Scenic River (National Park). Various configurations and attempts at communal living were attempted, a house and garden was built, fruit trees were planted, and the property has remained off the grid. In 2010, the remaining founder, Erik, along with his toddler son, started a small business to provide lodging to the climbers and paddlers who visit for the world-class outdoor recreation which centers around the nearby park.
